That didn’t take long! You know what they say—easy come, easy go, and it’s looking like that’s the direction Pokemon Go is headed. Wired wrote a piece giving us all permission to officially hate Pokemon Go and pointed out a few tweets including my own: “Seeing these signs everywhere today!” (with a snapshot of “Drive now, catch Pokemon later” road sign). News about “catching them all” leading to severe injuries and accidents has everyone reversing their decision to love the app and game that finally got everyone outside and moving.

Part of the problem is, of course, the crafting of the game itself. When you have police issuing reports to be careful when playing and numerous reports of players trespassing on private property, you’re bound to get some backlash. Will the creators be able to refine the parameters to help keep trespassers away? Who knows, but even if they do, it might not be soon enough. Plus, there’s little you can do to stop people from wandering into streets and objects while staring at their phone!

The good that came from the game, including socializing in person and moving, is something that can be encouraged with a variety of games and challenges.
